Brazil 2018/19 soy planting advances to record 60 pct of area

Brazilian farmers have sowed soybeans faster in 2018/19 than in any other crop year thanks to good weather in key regions like Mato Grosso state, consultancy AgRural said on Monday.

Farmers have sowed about 60 percent of the crop cycle’s estimated area of 35.8 million hectares, above a 5-year average of 41 percent and higher than last year’s 43 percent. As a result, producers may begin harvesting their beans in some areas of Mato Grosso in mid-December.
